| UAE buyers undeterred by spike in Turkish rebar offers - 10 Sep, 2010 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
As a fall out of spiraling scrap prices the Turkish mills have revised their unusual spike in scrap prices by another USD 20 per tonne. The global rally in long product prices seems to have held its forte during the entirety of Ramadan. Ironically this increase in offers is not translating into transactions. The current offers at USD 620 per tonne to USD 630 per tonne CFR Dubai for September production and early October delivery is evincing negligible response. The last reported deals were concluded at USD 610 per tonne to USD 620 per tonne CFR up from USD 600 per tonne to USD 610 per tonne CFR a fortnight ago. Market sources say that stockiest and traders in the UAE are favoring buying small tonnages from local suppliers over imports owing to short delivery time and customized quantities helping them to maintain skeletal inventory. With demand yet to pick up they are opting for caution. However with Ramadan on the verge of culmination clarity will emerge next week. www.steelprices-middleesat.com is a comprehensive service for tracking real time domestic steel prices and trends in Middle East.
